VALERIE (VaLorising European Research for Innovation in agriculture and forestry) is a 7th Framework Programme (FP7) project focusing on improving the flow of information between farmers, foresters, advisers and researchers to help drive innovation. Based on ten case studies, VALERIE has pioneered a stakeholder-driven approach to identify farming and forestry issues and match these to adviser knowledge and research outputs, so that applied research that responds to farmers’ and foresters’ needs are quickly implemented.
The final symposium of the project will take place in Brussels on 14 November 2017, at the headquarters of COPA-COGECA (rue de Trèves, 61). The event will bring together representatives from farming, forestry and advisory groups, as well as members of the Agricultural Knowledge and Innovation Systems (AKIS) Working Group, the Standing Committee on Agricultural Research (SCAR), farmer unions, other relevant EU FP7 and Horizon 2020 projects and the European Innovation Partnership for ‘Agricultural Productivity and Sustainability’ (EIP-AGRI). The symposium will:
– Demonstrate the ‘virtual adviser’ tool ask-Valerie.eu
– Discuss the VALERIE project approach and outcomes in the context of European Agricultural Knowledge and Innovation Systems (AKIS)
– Discuss future issues associated with access to knowledge for innovation
