The forest-based sector and R&I landscape in Lithuania
National Support Group
The National Support Group (NSG) is represented by the Lithuanian Forest and Land Owners Association (FOAL). FOAL is a national organization uniting private forest owners in Lithuania. It unites individual owners and companies to coordinate activities, provide professional consultations, and protect their interests. FOAL represents over 6 500 members and collaborates with international organizations such as CEPF, ELO, and IFFA, as well as local stakeholders in forestry, biomass energy, and wood processing. Active engagement with Lithuania’s Parliament and Government plays a key role in shaping private forestry policies and promoting innovation in the forest-based sector.
FOAL‘s agenda focuses on:
- attracting funding for innovative solutions,
- increasing the participation of Lithuanian companies in international R&I programs,
- and advocating for the inclusion of the sector’s innovation needs in national and EU policies.
- By fostering collaboration and emphasizing cutting-edge practices, LMSA aims to strengthen Lithuania’s position in the global bioeconomy and enhance the competitiveness of its forestry sector.
