NEW DATE – Biological invasions in forests: trade, ecology and management

This conference will address the causes, consequences and management of biological invasions in forests. This is an important area of research that focuses both on the ecology of invasions, as well as improving our understanding of invasion pathways and biosecurity programs that seek to mitigate damages. During the conference, scientists will be provided a venue to exchange information on current investigations as well as to develop new collaborative international research programs.

Topics covered by the conference:

  • Invasions of non-native insects, tree pathogens, plants and other organisms in forest ecosystems
  • The role of trade and travel as pathways for invasions
  • Ecology and impact of non-native species in forests
  • Management of invasions / biosecurity

The conference will be held on the campus of the Czech University of Life Sciences Prague and is hosted by the Faculty of Forestry and Wood Science. It will consist of two and a half days of scientific presentations as well as a 1-day field trip to view the forest environment surrounding Prague and learn about local problems associated with non-native species in forests.
