New transnational Call ForestValue on the forest bioeconomy launched

As of 17 October 2017, a new transnational ERA-NET Cofund Call ‘ForestValue– Innovating forest-based bioeconomy‘, has been launched for joint European research, development and innovation proposals in the field of the forest bioeconomy.

With a total available budget of over € 40 million, the joint European Call contributes to transforming the current resource-intensive economy to a sustainable biobased economy using renewable raw materials.

With the aim to further boost innovation and competitiveness of the forest-based sector in Europe, ForestValue seeks ideas and contributions that will accelerate the transformation towards a more sustainable, knowledge-intensive, resource-efficient and resilient sector, benefitting from new production technologies and innovative business concepts. The co-funded joint transnational Call cross-cuts all of the forest-based value chains, addressing two main areas:

  • Innovative sustainable management of multifunctional forests
  • Innovative industrial production and processing technologies, products, concepts and services
  • The deadline for submitting pre-proposals is 23 January 2018 at 13:00 CET and for full proposals 14 August 2018 at 13:00 CET.

For detailed information on the scope, Call texts, rules, funding and contact points, as well as other details, please read the full Call text. You can download a copy of the pre-proposal form here

ForestValue builds on the success of three forest-based ERA-NETs: WoodWisdom-Net, Sumforest and FORESTERRA. The consortium consists of 31 partners representing different programmes in the bioeconomy funding sector, coming from different regions and countries inside and outside of Europe. The indicative total budget of the ForestValue Call is estimated to amount to over € 40 million with industry co-funding; of this, total public funding covers € 25 million with EU top-up funding of € 5 million. The Call is part of the Work Programme of Societal Challenge 2 – Food security, sustainable agriculture and forestry, marine and maritime and inland water research and the bioeconomy.
