Upcoming Horizon Europe’s calls for 2025

In April/May 2025, The European Commission (EC) will publish its Work Programme (WP) for 2025, gathering the call topics for this year.

Having had a first look at the draft documents, here is an overview of some relevant calls for the forest-based sector:

Forest & Forestry (Opening date: 06/05/2025 – Closing date: 17/09/2025)

  • HORIZON-CL6-2025-03-GOVERNANCE-11: Enhancing sustainable rural development through digital twins for rural communities, agriculture and forestry  
  • HORIZON-CL6-2025-01-BIODIV-07: Living labs and lighthouses co-creating innovative solutions for forests and freshwater ecosystems restoration
  • HORIZON-CL6-2025-01-BIODIV-05: Assessing and modelling ecosystems’ dynamic processes to guide restoration activities and to improve models used for climate and land-use policies

Woodworking (Opening date: 16/09/2025 – Closing date: 17/02/26)

  • HORIZON-CL5-2025-05-D4-05: Optimal combination of low embodied carbon construction products, technical building systems and circularity principles for climate neutral buildings (Built4People Partnership)
  • HORIZON-CL5-2025-05-D4-03: Innovative pathways for low carbon and climate resilient building stock and built environment (Built4People Partnership)
  • HORIZON-CL5-2025-05-D4-01: On-site innovative robotics and automated solutions and techniques for more sustainable and less disruptive building renovation and construction

Pulp & Paper Industries (Opening date: 22/05/2025 – Closing date: 23/09/2025)

  • HORIZON-CL4-INDUSTRY-2025-01-TWIN-TRANSITION-31: From heat-driven processes to the use of mechanical and electric forces (Processes4Planet partnership) (IA)
