The next Horizon Europe Work Programme for 2025 is expected to be officially published around March or April 2025. However, Science|Business has already released preliminary drafts for Clusters 4 and 5, allowing an early glimpse into potential opportunities for the forest-based sector. FTP has reviewed these drafts and identified several calls of particular relevance.
Woodworking:
- HORIZON-CL5-2025-05-D4-01: On-site innovative robotics and automated solutions and techniques for more sustainable and less disruptive building renovation and construction.
- HORIZON-CL5-2025-05-D4-03: Innovative pathways for low carbon and climate-resilient building stock and built environment (Built4People Partnership).
Pulp & Paper:
- HORIZON-CL4-INDUSTRY-2025-01-TWIN-TRANSITION-32: Green and resilient flexible production processes (Processes4Planet partnership) (IA).
- HORIZON-CL4-INDUSTRY-2025-01-TWIN-TRANSITION-36: Safe and clean processing technologies and products (Processes4Planet partnership) (RIA).
The calls directly addressing forests and forestry will fall mainly under Cluster 6, which focuses on food, bioeconomy, natural resources, agriculture, and environment. These have not yet been included in the drafts.
Next Steps
Once the official Work Programme is published, FTP will carefully review and select the most relevant calls for the forest-based sector. This curated selection will be shared in the FTP Call Topics Manual, and will be added to the FTP Database for easy access by stakeholders.
