The Joint Call NKJ-SNS Networks, launched by the Nordic Joint Committee for Agricultural and Food Research (NKJ) together with Nordic Forest Research (SNS), is calling for proposal applications for networking activities that foster cross-sectorial cooperation among stakeholders from the forest and agricultural sectors in the Nordic countries. The network grants are for a period of 1-2 years with a total budget of nearly € 370,000 (800,000 SEK). Submissions will be accepted until 24 April 2017.
Applicant networks should cover topics related to the transition towards the bioeconomy, including plant disease in a changing climate, the use of big data in the bioeconomy and land use for biomass production in the Nordic countries. Wider topics on invasive species and pests, the energy sector, food security, climate change mitigation, horticulture, aquaculture, apiculture or the promotion of agroforestry systems are also welcome in the scope of the joint Call.
The aim of the Joint Call NKJ-SNS Networks is to increase Nordic synergy in research and innovation between the agro-food-forest-energy sectors by networking, workshops, seminars and joint utilization of unique research facilities. The networks will form a communication platform and assess challenges, knowledge gaps and opportunities in the areas of utilization of biomass and land use for the production of biomass in the transition to a greater circular sustainable bioeconomy.
